The Olympic Games, what an amazing time when many nations of the world converge to compete in the spirit of fair play. It is such a wonderful concept and has a way of eliciting national pride out of even the smallest of nations.

The problem I have right now is the whining going on about our Canadian Team not winning enough medals, or so far any, for that matter. I was under the impression we sent our athletes to compete in the hope that they would do their best and make our country proud and I think many, if not most of them, have done just that. Our team does not have the some of the advantages of a number of other nations, most notably financially. I watch the coverage on CBC and then on NBC and the difference is so marked. Our own CBC acknowledges the great triumph of any athlete whether they are Canadian or not, NBC has an almost exclusive focus on their own in an almost nauseating way. WE DO NOT WANT TO BECOME LIKE NBC.

So let's be proud of our athletes and honor their achievements with or without a medal.

It's Crazy Isn't It?
